What is the Coastal Tab?
The Coastal Tab is our biggest fundraiser for The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation, here is a little bit about them:
The JTYAF supports young people from a wide range of youth organisations providing them with scholarships and bursaries to support their personal development and the pursuit of their ambitions.
Recipients of the Charity’s Young Achievers Awards are selected for their demonstration of the Foundation’s key values: courage, determination, unselfishness and cheerfulness in adversity.
Since its formation in 2008 the JTYAF has made awards to almost 2000 young people which total over £700,000.
The JTYAF was founded by Peter and Linda Thornton in memory of John Thornton who was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2008 while serving as an officer in the Royal Marines.
We will be soaking up the mind blowing sights of the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, following the rolling hills to finally meet up at the historic 13th Century chapel at St. Aldhelm's Head, here we shall march as a group to the Royal Marine Memorial and onto the finish line.

And were off!! After a fantastic 5 minute warm-up with the fabulous Julie House, we will be letting you loose on the hills. Groups will leave at 5 minute intervals.
You will be assigned a number to allow us to keep track of you on the day. We will refer to you by your number not name, it's a red tape thing .... Make sure that your friends and family have 'liked' the Facebook Group Page as regular updates will be given. There are check points along the route where you will be able to refill your water bottle and stock up on jelly babies, at some you can even give your phone a cheeky charge! At each Check Point make sure you give your number so we can keep track of you and avoid having to kick-in the Emergency Plan which would be very embarrassing!!.
In order to help keep you safe in the event of an accident please download the app 'what3words' onto your phone, this will help us pin-point your exact location if necessary. We will give instructions of how to use it before you head off.
We aim to have everybody gathered together at the St Aldhelm's Chapel to start the final leg to the Royal Marines Commando Memorial.
A shuttle bus will be used to take you back to the start or our pick up point at Renscombe Car Park, Renscombe Road, Worth Matravers, Swanage, BH19 3LL
